DETERMINING TREATMENT

DETERMINING TREATMENT

When determining the course of treatment, your doctor will take a thorough history and evaluate the extent of injury. If necessary the patient will be referred for diagnostic testing including X-rays, MRI's or other scans.

If your injury is acute and very painful, you may be treated with pain relief protocols. This may include passive therapies, such as electric stimulation, ultra-sound, ice/heat therapy, spinal manipulations, extremity mobilizations and deep tissue massage. If you are seeking immediate relief to help you get through your day, this would be one of the best treatments possible.

If you are suffering from an acute injury and seeking therapy, we have several options for treatment. First, there are passive and active therapies. Passive therapies are applied to the patient, while active therapies require physical movement and exercise by the patient. Treatment for an acute injury differs from treatment for quick pain relief because the goals are more complex. Comprehensive treatment, including passive, active and rehabilitation will be involved in this treatment protocol.

Many options are available to our patients and all protocols are important. Please feel free to discuss your choices. Make your appointment today 310.458.1259
